GUMTREE GOLF & NATURE CLUB FIELD TRIP
Where: Sonoran Desert, Arizona.
When: December 14-16
Join us in the Sonoran Desert outside Phoenix Arizona this December for three days of unforgettable golf and nature.
Day 1 kicks off with an afternoon welcome and talk from “Bear”, a leader from the Yavapi Tribal Council teaching us about the land we’ll be spending the next three days fishing, golfing and eating upon. We’ll then enjoy some welcome drinks and gift bags with exclusive Gumtree Golf & Nature Club gear you’ll be able to put to good use on the trip. From there we’ll move a hilltop overlooking the Sonoran Desert sunset where we’ll have local fly fishing experts give you a fly fishing lesson right on the We-Ko-Pa fairways - getting you freshened up for the water the next day. Those of you who want to hit the range can, while others can sit back listen to the sounds of the desert and enjoy drinks and dinner under the stars.
The next morning we tee off on our first round of golf amongst the rich desert ecosystem of We-Ko-Pa. We’ll play alongside the majestic saguaros where we’ll also find typical desert shrubs and plants such as creosote bush, palo verde, mesquite trees and cholla cactus.
From there we’ll relocate to the nearby Salt River where our guides from the evening before will take each foursome out on the river for a guided afternoon on the water where we’ll have our targets on Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and the Sonoran Sucker (Catostomus insignis) - A native species, often overlooked, but known to inhabit the river and provide a super fun time if lucky enough to snag one.
We’ll end the day with a long table family style dinner under the stars where we eat, drink and share stories of the birdies and fish that got away and the one or two that we were lucky enough to nail.
The final day we’ll have breakfast then hit our second and last 18 holes of the trip. The We-Ko-Pa saguaro course. Winding through the rolling hills of cactus we’ll be on the lookout for local wildlife like Roadrunners, Javelinas & Coyotes.

What you need to do:
Get yourself to and from Phoenix AZ.
Bring whatever golf/fishing/birding gear you want. (We’ll have fishing gear for everyone included and there are golf clubs we cabn help arrange for you at the course if you’d prefer not to bring yours.)
