When I moved from Melbourne to New York City in 2017, I quickly became addicted to the city. But what I loved about the city, the pace, the chaos, was also what I sought to escape. Growing up a surfer in a major metro area, I spent hours traveling to the most remote stretches of Australia to get as far into nature as a map would allow.

Surfing, like most things, is harder in NYC. I longed for an outdoor retreat that wasn’t limited by beach space or weather conditions.

That’s when I re-discovered golf.

Even in a city like New York, a golf course at sunrise offers complete immersion in nature. You’re left with a distinct sense of place, colored by local scents, wildlife, and flora; yet you feel completely removed from the hustle of everyday life. And over the last few years I’ve been fascinated about how these little ecosystems differ so much around America and the globe.

Gumtree Golf & Nature Club was born of a desire to further meld the natural beauty, flora and fauna of each environment with the golfers who play amongst them. I hope the products and people you find here help you feel more connected to nature, yourself, and of course, the game.
