Frequently asked questions

Gumtree Golf & Nature Club (GGNC) is a Brooklyn golf and nature brand, founded in 2022, that makes one-of-a-kind golf headcovers and apparel from upcycled vintage textiles. Here are the questions we get asked most.

About GGNC

What is Gumtree Golf & Nature Club?

A slow-fashion golf and nature brand founded in Brooklyn in 2022 by Australian-born designer and surfer Karsten Jurkschat. We make limited-run golf headcovers, hats and apparel, many upcycled from vintage and heirloom textiles, and we run Field Trips: small-group golf and nature trips. Everything is designed in Brooklyn and made in New York or by partners across the USA.

Why “golf and nature”?

We think the best part of a round is often what's around you: the birds, the trees, the light. Our motto is low-flying birds over low scores. The products, collaborations and trips all come back to that idea.

Do you give back?

Yes. 2% of every purchase goes to carbon removal through Stripe Climate.

Headcovers

What are your headcovers made from?

Most of our one-of-a-kind headcovers are upcycled from found textiles: heirloom quilts, 1950s–1980s canvas camp tents, fly-fishing waders, burlap feed and coffee sacks, and vintage embroidered patches. Our in-line headcovers use American wool, heavyweight cotton canvas twill and wetsuit neoprene.

Are they really one-of-a-kind?

Yes. Each upcycled headcover is cut from a different part of the source textile, so no two have the same patches, grommets, stitching or wear. Once a set is gone it is not remade, though we release new one-of-a-kind sets regularly.

Which clubs do they fit?

Driver covers fit all modern drivers up to 460cc. We also make fairway wood, hybrid and putter covers; each product page lists the sizes available.

Where are they made?

Our headcovers are handmade in New York City, many in Manhattan's garment district. American wool headcovers are knit in Oregon.

Will a sold-out piece come back?

One-of-a-kind and heirloom pieces won't be re-released, because the original textile is used up. We drop new one-of-a-kind pieces often, and Nature Club email subscribers hear about them first. Join the list.

Golf bags

Who makes the GGNC x Mackenzie bags?

Our bags are handmade to order in the USA by Mackenzie Golf Bags in Portland, Oregon, in waxed canvas and leather.

How long does a bag take?

Mackenzie bags are made to order, so lead times vary with demand: usually 6–8 weeks, and up to about 10 weeks in busy periods.

Can I personalize my bag?

Yes, in two ways: up to four letters embroidered on the leather under the Mackenzie logo (serif or sans-serif, any colour), or an additional pocket for an extra fee.

Orders, shipping and returns

How long does shipping take?

Orders usually ship within 2–7 business days, depending on demand. US shipping is free on orders over $150.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. International customers are responsible for any import taxes and duties in their country.

What is your return policy?

Items that are not one-of-a-kind can be returned within 14 days of the ship date for an exchange or a refund, minus shipping. One-of-a-kind and vintage pieces are sold as is, and sale items are final sale. Start a return through our return center.

Do you have a discount for new customers?

Join the Nature Club email list and you'll get 10% off your first order, plus first word on drops and restocks.

Studio and events

Can I visit the studio?

Yes. Our studio and shop is at 55 Nassau Avenue, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY 11222. Weekdays are by appointment and we open on select Saturdays, announced on Instagram. Book a visit.

What is a Field Trip?

Field Trips are three-day, small-group golf and nature trips for about ten people: golf at standout local courses plus hikes, stargazing and good food. Past trips went to the Sonoran Desert, Zion and the Catskills. See upcoming trips.

Do you sell wholesale?
