About the founder

Karsten Jurkschat grew up surfing in Melbourne and moved to New York City in 2017. Missing the ocean, he rediscovered golf as a way back into nature: a course at sunrise, with its birds, trees and light, became his escape from the city. He started Gumtree Golf & Nature Club in Brooklyn in 2022, hand-making the first products himself on a home sewing machine. The brand's motto is low-flying birds over low scores.
